Rhyl Supporters Trust Retro Shirt

The banner often held up at Rhyl games is “History only tells the story” and of the greatest tales in Rhyl’s football history is recreated with the launch of the retro shirt from the Welsh Cup final in 1993. Thousands of Lilywhites fans descended on Cardiff for the final against Cardiff City which saw a new shirt launched for the match, the iconic pin stripped Kelly’s shirt. Whilst the afternoon at the old National Stadium ended with a 5-0 defeat most of the 16,443 crowd had a memorable afternoon.  Cardiff fans were celebrating their season having won the old Division two whilst Rhyl fans shared the carnival atmosphere at the end of their first season back in Welsh Domestic football in front of the largest crowd for a game in decades and the glory days of the FA Cup.
